Throughout the course of eight very short yet demanding years Grace has developed a boundless affection for all things MUN. Grace is currently double majoring in politics and art history, as both the law and art are her two greatest loves. Grace  works for the federal courts where she spends her days dredging through Westlaw and getting lost in the Thurgood Marshall courthouse. Grace holds a deep affection for pitbulls, reading, and spending her weekends at art museums staring at Stettheimer’s and contemplating the mental stability of Mark Rothko.

Passionate about politics and world history, this is her first year at New York University's College of Arts and Sciences studying International Relations. Born in Manila, Philippines and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, she enjoys hiking through waterfalls and eating lots of ramen in her spare time.

Xan Northcott

Xan is studying politics, economics and Chinese, and is writing a thesis on the impact of technology on elections in Africa for the IR Honors Program. He works part-time for the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation as programme planner for the Youth Assembly at the United Nations, while on campus serving as Editor for sub-Saharan Africa for the IR Insider student publication. He was formerly an analyst for Invest Africa, and has worked on the ground bringing sport programs to ex-apartheid townships in South Africa. His other work has included training students in political engagement in New York and working on political campaigns in his home country, the U.K.

Omar Fahmy

Omar is currently in his third year at NYU, and is pursuing a major Political Science, along with a Double Minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (MEIS), and Documentary Filmmaking.  Although having grown up in the suburbs of New York, Omar’s curiosity in international politics, specifically with a regional focus on the Middle East, began after he moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While in Jeddah, he helped lead his school’s Model United Nation’s program. Now as a part of the UN Initiative team, Omar is excited to contribute his knowledge of international political systems to the great work that the UNI consistently produces while on campus.

Lauren Franco

Lauren is a student in Gallatin, building a concentration around International Law, Human Rights, Film, and Journalism. She also serves as the Director of Programming for Gallatin Student Council and is the founder and president of a women's group called [gather]. Lauren worked previously with an anti-sex trafficking ministry in Berlin, Germany, and also worked to train and teach communities about adoption in Rwanda. Lauren is originally from Southern California, and enjoys acting, singing, and writing.

Zaina is a first year in the Liberal Studies Program at NYU and is excited to be an ambassador for the UN Initiative. With interests spanning from human rights to policy formation to international politics, she is still undecided about her major. When not in class, Zaina works at NYU Law in the Judicial Clerkship Office. Growing up in Princeton and Pennington, New Jersey, in her free time she enjoys scary roller coasters, staying up-to-date on celebrity gossip, and pursuing her goal of eating all the Ben & Jerry ice cream flavors.
